Samode Palace is clearly one of the most beautiful destination wedding venues near Delhi & Jaipur. The half-century old palace is a celebration in itself. The Palace was quite recently restored in 1987 by Rawal Raghavendra Singh and Yadavendra Singh – the descendants of the Royal Family. The Samode Palace, along with the Bagh (Hindi for ‘garden’) – which is a 5 minute ride from the Palace – have been converted into this luxurious property. Samode Palace is a unique blend of historic magnificence, contemporary beauty & modern comfort. The Luxurious Carpets, Hand-painted walls, Detailed-intricate Brick, Mirror and Wood work & stone-paved paths give a surrealistic feel to the traveller. The Samode Palace has has 20 deluxe rooms, 19 deluxe suites and four royal suites and the
I also have a very special corner for Samode in my heart. I shot my first big destination wedding here, followed by one of my most loved pre-wedding photoshoots here. And after several weddings & pre-wedding photoshoots later, this year, I got a chance to be a part of a beautiful winter wedding!
Ashima & Karan’s wedding was a very close family affair in the most perfect season to get married in Rajasthan – Winter. It started off with a very traditional welcome for all the guests, and an outdoor Brunch-Mehendi Sundowner at the Beautiful Samode Bagh lawns. Crisp sunshine, live-bangle-making, Sangria & Beer, some impromptu dance performances & lots of laughter. This was followed by a lavish Cocktail-Sangeet evening at the Mughal Gardens facing the main entrance to Samode Palace – with bonfire, more dance performances & a flash-back medley of Ashima & Karan’s journey together <3 . The fun didn’t end there, and the pool-side after-party went on till the wee-hours.
The Wedding day started early with Karan’s Haldi ceremony at the Samode Bagh & Ashima’s Choora ceremony simultaneously at the Samode Palace courtyard. This was followed by the Baraat Procession where Karan entered the Palace atop an Elephant, just like Kings would do during Mughal Raj. The family & friends dancing to the Drums & Trumpets in the procession was sight to see. So much energy! Ashima was then brought to the courtyard, escorted by her brothers & cousins. They exchanged garlands – while teasing each other, and walked down the steps with fireworks lighting up the place. My favourite part of the wedding! Right after this, Ashima & Karan completed the wedding rituals in a beautiful mandap by the poolside. Some heartfelt speeches, yummy food & crazy after-party right after the Bidai in a beautiful vintage car. Oh! What a perfect Wedding!
