Winter in Delhi starts with the endless traffic jams & diwali melas. The mad rush in the city is followed by the wedding season, off-season discounts & grub fests. All at the same time. It is the most stressful part of the year. You have to attend weddings, you can’t miss the diwali melas, you have to rush to the malls for those left-over discounted stuff. And then there are dance practices, cocktail parties, gift-runs for all these parties & events, and of course Poker!
Amidst all this, a little peace of mind can be found at Jaipur Polo Grounds, Army Equestrian Centre in Delhi. It’s surreal to be sitting outside in the sun, watching a game of Polo. Takes me back to my school days, with loads of activities on the weekends with all the other Army brats. Thanks to dad’s postings, and some 12 odd cities where we got to stay during my school years, from Island trips to Palace treks, open-air theatres to isolated caves, all sorts of entertainment & fun weekenders were explored. In all of these activities, watching a Polo match was always a Luxury.
Here are a few pictures from the Taj Northern India Championship Finals, where Royal Punjab showed their dominance in the game, defeating Jindal Panthers 9-8 in the 5th chakker (extra time, sudden death). What a power packed nail-biter this match was!
Next Jindal/Ambani. Already in the feelers.
The Trophy!
Army Band! Le Sigh.
Daddy’s girl practicing polo already.

Oh. And we also tried a Selfie. The results were perfect (photobombing) and not so perfect final picture!
