Amrit Kaur used to be Ramit’s batch-mate when they were in school at The Army Public School, New Delhi. Most of Amrit’s family has served in the Indian Army in various technical and medical capacities. Amrit and Andrew have known each other for more than seven years now and seen each other through the happiness and sadness, through the good days and the bad ones; they have been the best of friends and took sealed their bond firmer than ever, in marriage.
The Anandkaraj ceremony according to Sikh customs took place in the Gurdwara near Amrit’s Delhi home. She had the blessings of her late grandparents. Her cousins, who she is very attached to, were there to be with her all throughout her special day. Andrew had flown in from Calcutta, with his sister Lisa the day before the wedding, so they could be a part of the Mehendi festivities as well as get to know the rituals they would be performing the next day.
The ceremony lasted about an hour and was followed by a brunch for the family and friends at Amrit’s home.
